Artist Bio

In 2020, I began my journey as an independent ceramic artist and founded Alexander Ceramics in Waukesha, Wisconsin. I make Limited Edition ceramic art tile and hand-built boxes. My work combines matte and glossy glazes to create the illusion of stained glass within each ceramic design. I intentionally choose neutral matte tones for the tile borders, allowing the colors and patterns within each piece to become the focal point.

I’m drawn to the depth of color and richness found in stained glass, the organic sweeping lines that flow through art nouveau, and the timeless craftsmanship of the arts and crafts era. I love designing and sketching new ideas, inspired by what I observe in nature and the world around me. It is refreshing to connect with the beauty and diversity of the natural world, and important to reflect not only on the impact nature can have on us,  but also the impact we can have on it.

Clay has always been the art medium that resonates with me the most, leading me to seek out ceramic classes and opportunities long before it became my career. This passion led me to spend ten years working for a pottery production company, where I developed my design style. During this time, I also deepened my understanding of glaze color and composition while discovering that creating art could become a meaningful and sustainable career. Since starting my business, I have gained a deeper appreciation for the importance of art and the ways it can bring beauty, connection, and meaning into people’s lives.
